1. Para athlete Amit Kumar Saroha wins Gold :
  • Indian para athlete Amit Kumar Saroha clinched gold medal in men's club throw (F-51) at the 2016 French Open Athletics Championship in Paris.
  • Saroha’s effort of 26.58 meter broke the Asian record which he had himself set at 2015 World Championships in Doha.
  • The French Open Athletics Championship was part of his preparation for Rio 2016. 
  • Amit Kumar has already qualified for the 2016 Rio Paralympics.
2. Three school girls from Jammu and Kashmir scale Mount Everest:
  • Three NCC girl cadets of NCC Directorate Jammu and Kashmir have scaled the Mt Everest.
  • The three NCC girl cadets are Stanzlin Laskit, Tashi Laskit and Tsering Angmo from Leh and students of Class XII, Govt Higher Secondary School, Leh.
3. Lakshadweep became 1st Union Territory to sign 24x7 Power for All document:
  • Lakshadweep signed 24x7 Power for All document. 
  • It became the first Union Territory (UT) to sign the document which aims to provide each household access to electricity through 24x7 Power supply by 2019.
4. ISRO to launch record 22 satellites in single mission:
  • ISRO said it will launch a record 22 satellites in a single mission next month June,three are Indian and the rest all commercial.
5. New timetable of Railways to come into effect from 1st Oct:
  • The new timetable of Railways will come into effect from October 1 this year as against July 1.
  • Generally, the new timetable becomes operational from July 1.
6. Indian Air Force successfully test fires Brahmos missile at Pokharan:
  • The Indian Air Force (IAF) has successfully test-fired an advanced version of BrahMos land-attack supersonic cruise missile system.
  • Test-fired held at the Pokhran field firing range in  Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan.
  • BrahMos supersonic cruise missile has been designed and developed by BrahMos Aerospace, a joint venture of India and Russia.
  • It can strike a target at maximum range of 290-km.
  • It has derived its name from the names of two rivers, India’s Brahmaputra River and Russia’s Moskva River.
7. India’s first integrated web portal to promote Net Zero Energy Buildings:
  • Union Power Ministry and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) launched India’s first integrated web portal
  • The portal was designed to promote and mainstream Net Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) in India.
8. Guinea Bissau President names Baciro Dja as Prime Minister:
  • Guinea Bissau President Jose Mario Vaz named Baciro Dja as the new Prime Minister of the west African country.
  • Mr. Baciro Dja succeeded Carlos Correia, who was sacked earlier this month in a move that threatened to deepen political turmoil in the tiny West African nation.
9. Aditi Krishnakumar wins "Scholastic Asian Book Award":
  • Indian woman author in Singapore Aditi Krishnakumar (31-years)has won the 'Scholastic Asian Book Award' for her manuscript rooted in Indian history.
  • She won the ten thousand Singapore dollar award this week for her manuscript "Codex: The Lost Treasure Of The Indus".
  • The Scholastic Asian Book Award (SABA) is the joint initiative of the National Book Development Council of Singapore and Scholastic Asia.
10. Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev to lead Yoga Session at UN:
  • Spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev will lead a yoga session at the UN on the occasion of the second International Yoga Day next month.
  • International Yoga Day will be commemorated on the 21st of June.
  • Yoga for the Sustainable Development Goals will be the theme of this year’s Yoga Day.
