1. Arunachal Pradesh Launches Adarsh Gram Yojana for Rural Poor:
  •  The Arunachal Pradesh government has launched a new scheme 'Adarsh Gram Yojana' to reach the poor people in rural areas of the state to serve them better.
  • Under the scheme, 123 villages will be developed as “Model Villages” during the FY 17-18.
2. Manohar Parrikar takes oath as Goa CM:
  • Manohar Parrikar today took oath as Goa chief minister. He became the Defence Minister at the Centre in 2014 and was succeeded by Laxmikant Parsekar as the Chief Minister.
  • 11 MLAs, including 5 of BJP and 6 of supporting parties also took oath.
  • Parrikar on Monday resigned as the Defence Minister to take over the new role as Goa CM.
3. Jaitley gets additional charge of Defence Ministry:
  • Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was given the additional charge of the Defence Ministry after Manohar Parrikar resigned to take on the new role of Goa Chief Minister.
  • This is the second time that Jaitley is holding the additional portfolio of Defence Ministry during the present NDA government. 
  • He was incharge of the ministry earlier from May 26 to November 9 in 2014.
4. Government launches Mission Fingerling to achieve Blue Revolution:
  • The Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer's Welfare has launched Mission Fingerling to achieve the Blue Revolution by enabling holistic development and management of fisheries.
  • The programme will enhance the fisheries production from 10.79 mmt (2014-15) to 15 mmt by 2020-21.
  • Fish Fingerling production is the single most important critical input visualized to achieve fish production targets under the Blue Revolution.
5. Women Safety app ‘Ammavin Aran’ launched by AIADMK:
  • The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) IT Wing has launched the women safety application 'Ammavin Aran' in Tamil Nadu.
  • The app will give the user details about the nearest police station and hospital along with map details and phone number. 
  • The app carries an in-built call recorder and 'Tips' icon to provide life- saving information.
6. Karnataka announces Rs10-crore fund for women entrepreneurs:
  • Karnataka has announced an Idea2POC (Proof of Concept) fund of Rs10 crore for women entrepreneurs. 
  • Under this (Idea2POC) scheme, the Karnataka Department of IT, BT and S&T will fund up to Rs50 lakh for any woman innovator looking for funds for Proof of Concept validation, certification, and cover costs in manufacturing of pilot devices. 
  • The IT/BT Department, under the Multi-Sector Startup Policy of Karnataka, created the Idea2PoC Fund.
7. Rs605-crore ‘KCR Kit’ scheme for pregnant women, new born:
  • Focussing on women welfare and new born, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has come out with an innovative scheme – KCR Kit.
  • The scheme is designed to address complications during the time of pregnancy and aimed at reducing infant mortality rate and encourage institutional deliveries.
  • The KCR Kit consists of 16 essential things needed for a new-born and will be useful for up to three months.The government proposes to earmark Rs605 crore for the scheme.
8. No Limit On Cash Withdrawals From Savings Bank Accounts:
  • All limits on savings bank cash withdrawals post-demonetisation ended on 13 march 2017, as had been announced by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) last month.
  • In a two-stage process, the weekly withdrawal limit per account had been raised to Rs. 50,000, from Rs. 24,000, with effect from February 20,2017, and all limits on ATM withdrawals were slated to cease from March 13, 2017. 
  • It kept its key interest rate unchanged at 6.25%, saying it awaited data on the full impact of the government's demonetisation drive.
9. BrahMos missile successfully test-fired:
  • The land-attack version of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile with an extended range increased from 290 km to 450 km was successfully test fired. The missile was test fired from a Mobile Autonomous Launcher (MAL) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, Odisha. It met its mission parameters fully by achieving 100% results. 
  • BrahMos supersonic cruise missile has been designed and developed by BrahMos Aerospace, a joint venture of India and Russia.
10. Narendra Kumar appointed as new Chairman of Central Water Commission:
  • Union Government has appointed Narendra Kumar as the new chairman of the Central Water Commission (CWC). 
  • He is Central Water Engineering Service (CWES) officer of 1979 batch. Prior to this appointment, he was member (river management) of CWC since October 2014.
11. OnePlus India Ropes Amitabh Bachchan as its New Brand Ambassador: 
  • Chinese smartphone company OnePlus has roped in Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan as its new brand ambassador for India.
  •  Mr Bachchan is the first major face that OnePlus India is associating with for its latest flagship smartphone, OnePlus 3T. With this, Amitabh Bachchan has now joined the first-ever 'OnePlus Star' which is a select group of distinguished OnePlus users.
12. Intel to buy Mobileye for $ 15.3 billion:
  • U.S. chip giant Intel has agreed to buy Israeli driverless technology firm  Mobileye for $15.3 billion, the largest ever acquisition of an Israeli high-tech company. 
  • The $63.54 per share cash deal is the world's biggest purchase of a company solely focused on the autonomous driving sector. 
  • Mobileye accounts for 70 percent of the global market for advanced driver-assistance and anti-collision systems.
13. KPMG elects Bill Thomas as Global Chairman:
  • William B Thomas has been elected Chairman of KPMG International. 
  • He will lead the KPMG global network of professional services firms for a 4-year term, effective October 1, 2017, succeeding John B Veihmeyer who is completing his term as Chairman and retiring from the firm, at the end of September 2017.
14. UK parliament gives final approval for Brexit bill:
  • In UK, the House of Lords has passed the Brexit bill, paving the way for the government to trigger Article 50 so the UK can leave the EU. 
  • The Prime Minister could theoretically invoke Article 50, which formally starts the Brexit process. 
  • The EU Withdrawal Bill was passed unamended after peers voted by 274 votes to 118 not to challenge the Commons again over the issue of whether Parliament should have a veto on the terms of exit.
15. CAS upholds lifetime ban on Sergei Portugalov:
  • The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) upheld a lifetime ban levied against Sergei Portugalov, former chief of the Russian Athletics Federation's Medical Commission for his role in providing illicit substances to Russian athletes.
  • The CAS stated that Portugalov had been found to have violated several articles of the IAAF anti-doping regulations, including the possession, trafficking and administration of prohibited substances.

16. Winners of 2017 All England Championship Title of Badminton:
  • Men’s Single: Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei won the 2017 All England Championship Title of Badminton by defeating China’s Shi Yuqi by 21-12, 21-10 score.
  • Women’s Single: Tai Tzu-ying (China) won the title by defeating Ratchanok Intanon (Thailand) by 21-16, 22-20 score. 
  • Men’s Double: Indonesia’s Marcus Gideon and Kevin Sukamuljo won the title by defeating China’s Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen by 21-19, 21-14 score. 
  • Women’s Double: South Korea’s Chang Ye Na and Lee So Hee won the title by defeating Denmark’s Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen by 21-18, 21-13 score. 
  • Mixed Double: China’s Lu Kai and Huang Yaqiong won the title by defeating Malaysia’s Peng Soon Chan and Liu Ying Goh by 18-21, 21-19, 21-14 score.
17. SSP Chawrasia clinches second successive Indian Open title:
  • SSP Chawrasia has become only the second Indian golfer to successfully defend the Hero Indian Open title.
  • He clinched a seven-stroke win at the redesigned DLF golf and country club in Gurgaon(Haryana).
  • This was his sixth win on the Asian Tour and overall sixth international victory.
  • Chawrasia is the third player to win back-to-back Indian Open and pocketed a winner's cheque of 291,660 US Dollars.
  • The other two golfers who did so earlier are Jyoti Randhawa who won in 2006 and 2007 and Japan's Kenji Hosoishi who won in 1967 and 1968.
18. Punjab wins 2017 Santosh Trophy of Football:
  • Punjab has won the 71st Santosh Trophy football tournament by defeating Railways by 2-1 goals. 
  • It was Punjab’s overall ninth Santosh Trophy after it had earlier won it in 1970, 1974, 1980, 1984, 1985, 1987, 2006 and 2007. 
  • For Punjab, both goals were scored by Rajbir Singh (16th and 61st minutes). For Railways, goal was scored by Rajesh Soosanayakam (59th minute).
19. Malayalam filmmaker Diphan passes away:
  • Malayalam film director Diphan (47-year) passed away in a private hospital at Kochi.
  • He is survived by his wife and two children.
  • Diphan is known for his films namely Puthiya Mukham, Hero and SIM.
20. Former Puducherry Agriculture Minister M Chandrakasu passes away:  
  • The former Puducherry Agriculture Minister M. Chandrakasu passed away after a prolonged illness. He was 67 .
