1. PM Narendra Modi launches #IAmNewIndia campaign:
  • PM Narendra Modi on Sunday unveiled #IAmNewIndia, a nation-building exercise on the NaMo App, which is "a pledge to build a new India".
  • The pledge can be undertaken with just a few clicks on the NaMo app.
2. B P Kanungo was appointed Deputy Governor in Reserve Bank of India (RBI):
  • B P Kanungo has been appointed as the Deputy Governor in Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for three years.
  • He has been appointed in place of R Gandhi. 
  • Kanungo was in March last year appointed as executive director in the central bank.
3. India appoints Manjeev Singh Puri as next envoy to Nepal:
  • Manjeev Singh Puri was appointed as the new Indian envoy to Nepal on March 10, 2017. He is the succeedor of Ranjit Rae.
  • Presently Puri is working as the Ambassador of India to Belgium.
  • He is a member of the Indian Foreign Service since 1982 and also a senior member of  India appoints Manjeev Singh Puri as next envoy to NepalIndia’s Security Council team during 2011-2012
  • He has served as the Deputy Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations in New York from 2009 to 2013.
4. India’s Largest Floating Solar PV Plant Installed by NTPC in Kerala:
  • State-run National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) has installed India’s largest floating Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Plant at Rajiv Gandhi Combined Cycle Power Plant (RGCCPP) at Kayamkulam in Kerala on March 10, 2017.
  • The 100 kWp floating solar generation plant has been indigenously developed as a part of ‘Make in India’ initiative.
  • The Solar panels are mounted on floating boards that hold them in place. Installing solar panels in water bodies saves land as well as are more efficient than the ones installed on land.
  • The system was installed by Swelect Energy Systems Ltd, Chennai with support from NETRA & NTPC Kayamkulam station in a short span of 22 days.
5. Venkaiah Naidu Inaugurates India’s Largest Waste-To-Power Plant in New Delhi:
  • The North Delhi Municipal Corporation launched India’s largest municipal waste-to-power plant at Narela-Bawana in New Delhi on March 10, 2017.
  • The 24 megawatt (MW) Narela-Bawana waste-to-energy plant was inaugurated by the Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu at the Civic Centre.
  • The project has been developed on public private partnership model by Ramky Group, a Hyderabad-based waste management company, in collaboration with the North Corporation.
  • It has been built at a cost of Rs 650 crore and over 100 acres of land.
  • The plant will use 2,000 metric tonnes of solid waste every day to generate 24 MW of energy. The capacity would be expanded further to process about 4000 metric tonnes of waste.
6. Reliance Capital’s CEO Sam Ghosh to quit after 9 years:
  • Reliance Capital’s long serving CEO Sam Ghosh will leave the company on 31 March, after spending nine years at the financial services arm of Anil Ambani-led business conglomerate.
  • Ghosh, a Chartered Accountant from England had joined the company in April 2008 as group chief executive officer of Reliance Capital, while he was elevated to the board in May 2015.
7. Exhibition “Revolutionary Patriots (1905-1947)” was Inaugurated:
  • On the occasion of 127th Foundation Day of National Archives of India (NAI), an exhibition entitled “Revolutionary Patriots (1905-1947)” was inaugurated by Shri N.K. Sinha, Secretary, Ministry of Culture in the presence of Shri Raghvendra Singh, Director General of NAI and many dignitaries. 
  • Addressing on the occasion, Shri N.K. Sinha praised the initiative of NAI and opined that the Digital Technology can make a lot of difference in collection and preservation of historical treasures in NAI. 
8. Karnataka Bank, BAGICL sign MoU on general insurance business:
  • Mangalore based Karnataka Bank has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pune based Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company for General Insurance business on March 10, 2017
  • With this, Karnataka bank would be able to provide vast choice of non-life insurance  Karnataka Bank, BAGICL sign MoU on general insurance businessproducts to its customers.
  • This partnership will boost the growth of both organizations.
9. India launches second stage of HCFCs phaseout plan:
  • Environment minister Anil Madhav Dave, on Monday released the second stage of the Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFC) phase-out management plan (HPMP), greenhouse gases that damage the earth’s ozone layer.
  • It is estimated that with this plan, there would be a net direct CO2-equivalent emission reductions of about 8.5 million metric tonnes annually from 2023.
  • India has already successfully implemented HPMP stage-I.
10. Thai contestant wins transgender beauty pageant:
  • Thai contestant Jiratchaya Sirimongkolnawin was crowned Miss International Queen 2016 on Friday at a contest billed as the world's largest and most popular transgender pageant.
  • The 25-year-old beat 24 other contestants for the crown, with the second and third place going to contestants from Brazil and Venezuela, respectively.
  • The contest was held at the Tiffany's nightclub in the Thai seaside town of Pattaya.
11. Chemistry Nobel laureate George Olah dies aged 89:
  • Hungarian–American chemist George Olah was passed away in in Beverly Hills, USA. He is 89.
  • Olah received the chemistry Nobel prize for his work on carbocations in 1994.
  • He also won the Széchenyi Grand Prize of Hungary and the American Chemical Society’s Priestley Medal.
