1. NK Chari, New MD of State Bank of Mysore:
  • Mr. NK Chari has been appointed Managing Director of the State Bank of Mysore (SBM) with an immediate effect from 30th May. 
  • Prior to his new position, he was the Deputy Managing Director of State Bank of India.
2. Ola introduced 'Ola Operator'- a mobile platform:
  • Taxi-aggregator Ola introduced 'Ola Operator'- a mobile platform to help its drivers graduate to operators - and expects that the initiative would double its fleet size from 4.5 lakh in the near-term, a company executive said today.
  • "Ola Operator has been built for entrepreneurs who have grown from one car to many on the Ola platform over the years, as well as operators who own cars, and employ drivers.
  • The Ola Operator platform will enable operators to track the location of the vehicles, monitor the log-in, earnings and performance from a single window.
3. India, Tunisia sign MoUs for co-operation in IT, handicrafts sector:
  • India and Tunisia have signed two MoUs for co-operation in Information Technology and promotion of traditional handicrafts. 
  • The MoUs were signed after the delegation level talks between the two countries in the presence of Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari and Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid in Tunis.
4. Nita Ambani nominated for International Olympic Committee:
  • Nita Ambani, founder-chairperson of Reliance Foundation, has been nominated as an independent candidate to be a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) based out of Lausanne in Switzerland.
  • Nita Ambani will be the first woman and the third Indian to become a member of the International Olympic Committee, if she gets elected.
5. P Sreeramakrishnan elected as Speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly:
  • LDF candidate and two-time legislator P Sreeramakrishnan was elected as the Speaker of the Kerala Assembly on Friday. 
  • Sreeramakrishnan got 92 votes in the 140-member constituency, while UDF leader and Kunnathunadu MLA VP Sajeendran bagged 46 votes.
6. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah enters Limca Book of Records:
  • Comedy show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is now in Limca Book of Records as the longest running comedy fiction show.
  • Recently Balika Vadhu has registered its name in the Limca Books of Records for being the longest running daily fiction soap in Hindi.
7. Singapore International Arbitration Centre to open Representative Office at GIFT City:
  • Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Gujarat International Finance Tec-City Company Limited (GIFTCL) and GIFT SEZ Limited (GIFT SEZ) to establish a representative office in India.
  • The signatories will collaborate to promote the use of arbitration, mediation, and other dispute resolution mechanisms.
8. Dr. R Seetharaman conferred with 2016 Green Economy Visionary Award:
  • A Qatar-based Indian banker Dr. R Seetharaman has been awarded with the 2016 ‘Green Economy Visionary award’. 
  • He has been awarded with this award for his contribution in environment-friendly activities and thereby promoting green economy for nearly two decades. 
  • He received the award from Mohammed Jarrah Al-Sabah, Chairman of Union of Arab Banks at the 2016 Union of Arab Banks (UAB) International Banking Summit held in Rome.
9. HDFC Ergo buys L&T General Insurance :
  • HDFC Ergo general insurance company, promoted by Housing Development Finance Corporation, agreed to buy L&T General Insurance for Rs 551 crore.
10. Navin Agarwal appointed as DG of NADA:
  • Senior IPS officer Navin Agarwal was appointed Director General (DG)/ Chief Executive Officer (CEP) of National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). 
  • He has been appointed to the post for five years. 
  • Navin Agarwal is a 1986 batch IPS officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre. Prior to this appointment he was working in his cadre state J&K.
  • NADA was set up as registered society under the Societies Registration Act of 1890 in November 2005 with a mandate for Dope free sports in India.
11. Middle East peace talks to start in Paris:
  • A French-led conference, Middle East peace summit which aimed at reviving the Israeli-Palestinian peace process is going to begin in Paris today. 
  • The talks would focus on the 2002 Saudi peace initiative, which offered Arab recognition of Israel in return for the creation of a Palestinian state in territories occupied by Israel since 1967. 
  • The summit will be inaugurated by French President Francois Hollande and will be chaired by the French foreign minister, Jean-Marc Ayrault.
12. India joins The Hague Code of Conduct:
  • India has joined the Hague Code of Conduct against Ballistic Missile Proliferation (HCoC) to further strengthen global non proliferation.
  • The HCoC is a voluntary legally non-binding multilateral body aimed at preventing the spread of ballistic missiles that can deliver weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
  • The HCoC was established on 25 November 2002 as a result of international efforts to regulate access to ballistic missiles which can potentially deliver weapons of mass destruction (WMDs).
